Kapow Coffee - Thornton's Arcade, Leeds

Kapow started life in the smallest of coffee shops down on The Calls (some may say it's where all the greats start life) and they have recently (although may be not too recently now) opened up a bigger place a little further in to the centre in Thornton's Arcade. They have two floors of space and even serve food!

Cinnamon and Sultana Bread Machine Recipe

A bread machine is a god send for those who love fresh bread but don't have the time to bake it every week, it's also a god send to people like my mum who has arthritis in her hands so unfortunately her kneading days are behind her.

The Morphy Richards Premium Plus bread maker is far superior to my old bread maker (that got the boot a few years ago) and as the name suggests it is a premium machine in that it not only makes different sized breads but it also has settings for so much more. So far I have used the standard bread setting, the wholemeal setting and the fruit bread setting, but it goes further than this extending to cakes and even pizza bases.

The White Horse and Griffin - Whitby

It's fair to say that Whitby is my favourite seaside town. We go at least once a year but strangely enough, I've never been in the winter time. I'm not one of these people that hunker down during the darker months, I still like to be out and about and I love walking in the cold sunshine. Therefore, it's rather silly that I hadn't been to Whitby in wintertime.

Whitby is a glorious place to go in winter, it's just as nice in winter as in summer. After a brisk and wintry walk beside the sea there are plenty of pubs with open fires to fall in to and drink many of the many varieties of mulled alcohol, ale and quite surprisingly, there are a number of gin bars too.
