Magnificent Milkshake company... This appears to be popular amongst the crowds, with an array of dessert like milkshakes to satisfy a sweet tooth.
On this occasion I chose the Eton Mess milkshake which is a strawberry milkshake (bordering on ice cream) with a meringue top plus some strawberries and cream. I think I made all my work colleagues jealous when I took this back to devour at my desk.
For a main course I visited Yu Kyu which is a Japanese street food vendor with a difference. Usually based in London they made their way up to Leeds for Trintiy Kitchen. Rather than your traditional sushi or noodles this street food vendor has joined together the traditional street food burger van with a Japanese (distant) cousin.
I ordered a chicken Katsu burger... See the twist? It doesn't come with rice but it is your traditional Japanese battered chicken with brown Japanese sauce but placed inside a brioche bun. Napkins needed. The sauce nicely soaks in to the burger and provides a strong flavour (I stank of it all afternoon at work). They've definitely hit the comfort food mark I was immensely content once I had devoured this and so was my hungover friend.
Other offerings from Yu Kyu include sweet potato fries, chicken Katsu and rice, spicy miso katsu'wich (pork spicy miso sauce, cabbage in a brioche bun), kabocha croquette (breaded pumpkin, avocado, and Japanese brown sauce), Asian sloppy Joes and more....
