Mrs Atha's - Leeds

I've visited Mrs Atha's before now, it was last year in the depth of winter, I wasn't really blogging at the time (you will note the big gap in posts between summer and winter) so I was determined to visit again and post a review as I really like the place.

Mrs Atha's sits behind House of Fraser in Leeds City Centre, in what previously used to be a cheap clothes shop I think. It is as deceptive from the outside as Little Tokyo it's neighbour is. There are seats outside now it is summer and as you walk in you will notice the room stretches far back and there is a cosy downstairs too (not so cosy in summer - more sweltering).

The menu is displayed on blackboards to your left as you walk in with a delicious display of cakes along the counter. They have plenty of hot drinks to choose from but with it being summer I settled on a cherry coke and R a rose lemonade.

Blackhouse (The Grill On The Square) Leeds

Blackhouse sits on East Parade Leeds in the former location of Est Est Est. I hadn't eaten at either of these restaurants until last Friday... as Est Est Est is no longer there it's pretty obvious that I went to Blackhouse.

I have heard mixed reviews in regards to Blackhouse, some rave about it - their post Christmas special offers in particular. Whereas some have told me they have left feeling a little disappointed. I prefer to visit places with an open mind and judge them for myself so I didn't take any of this in to account I just thought I'd mention it...

Bar 166 & Bistro - Horsforth, Leeds

It's fair to say that I don't travel to Horsforth very often, from where I am living currently it takes me a train a bus and walk to get there. However Horsforth has caught my eye as a potential place to live when I come to move on next. The size of the town centre surprised me when I first saw it, there are a plethora of bars, pubs, restaurants, cafes and a few charity shops too. It looks like a nice place to settle down.

I was delighted to be invited to Bar 166 & Bistro in Horsforth due to the above and from reading through their website. On their website they proudly display their Trip Advisor 'Certificate of Excellence', their food is from local producers where possible, and their ethos is to create luscious British food at an affordable price.

The Handmade Burger Company - Leeds

The Handmade Burger Kitchen is as new to me as it is to Trinity. I haven't previously visited one of their restaurants although their website tells me there are 17 of them in the UK, mainly in the North and four of them in Scotland

Don't Tell Titus - Saltaire

I've visited Don't Tell Titus before for lunch and a couple of times for drinks. I wasn't too impressed by their lunch (see here) but I had been told that their evening restaurant menu was better.

One warm summers evening R and I were looking for somewhere nice to eat in Saltaire, preferably with a beer garden. However it was pushing 7.30pm by the time we finally managed to get out of the house and the places on Bingley Road didn't appeal. We walked down to Roberts Park to find that the Boathouse Inn were to stop serving food at 8pm... it was now 7.55pm. So we headed towards Don't Tell Titus, by this time just trying to find anywhere still serving food.

Patisserie Valerie - Leeds St Paul's Street

Brunch with the girls is one of life's pleasures. Trying to find a perfect place to have brunch with the girls is not. This place might not be perfect but it's pretty damn close.

A new Patisserie Valerie has opened in Leeds down St Paul's Street near the corporate part of town. I've never been to Patisserie Valerie mainly because it always looks jam packed and claustrophobic on Albion Street. This one is slightly out of the way for your weekend shoppers so we decided to give it a go.

Patisserie Valerie is great for brunch because they serve brunch all day! Great for those who struggle to get out of bed for an early brunch... Or those of you who have friends who are always late...

Another reason why it's great for brunch is the massively appealing cake selection!
